Dhoni and some of the CSK teammates are in isolation in Chennai ahead of the pre-season preparations ahead of their IPL 2021 campaign. MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina, and Ambati Rayudu are the star players who are in isolation. This isolation is a self-imposed one that the players are taking before entering into the bio bubble in UAE.
The CSK team is flying to Dubai on August 13-14. As per the bio bubble protocols in UAE, there is no need for a team to enter into a self-isolation like this but the CSK franchise is doing it themselves because of their past experiences in the first half of IPL 2021 happened in India which had many CSK players and their support staffs tested positive for Covid-19.
Dhoni and 12 CSK Players are under self isolation
So the franchise is taking a precautionary measure to arrange self-imposed isolation before boarding the flight to UAE and entering the bio bubble. There are 12 other players in isolation along with MS Dhoni, a spokesman for the CSK franchise has also confirmed that the skipper is under isolation.
An official from the CSK circle has also informed that the isolated players are subjected to COVID-19 testing every day. According to the official, 13 Indian players are in a Chennai hotel and they will be the first batch to reach Dubai.
The second batch of players is those who are taking part in the TNPL and Krishnappa Gowtham, who recently tested COVID positive in Sri Lanka, will be flying later. The overseas players and the others who are part of the international series will be joining the CSK squad later through the Bio-Bubble to Bio-Bubble transfer medium.
As per the bio-bubble protocols by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) with the local officials in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, “All franchise team members must quarantine in their hotel room for six full days before entering the Bubble.”
After arriving and before joining any group training activities, all the team members need to be tested on Days 2, 4, and 6. “After completing their 6 full days of quarantine and confirmation, that all three RTPCR results for tests taken on Day 2, day 4, and day 6 are negative, they will be allowed to transfer to their respective team’s Bio-Bubble,” the official protocols stated.
On completing the 6day quarantining process, the CSK management will be having a camp in Dubai. There are certain conditions for this also.
“The franchise teams who wish to hold pre-IPL preparatory camps with the available players and staff can commence their team activities after following the mandatory quarantine and testing schedule applicable to the franchise teams described in these Health and Safety protocols document,” the protocols read.
The CSK is behind the table-toppers Delhi Capitals (12 points) with 10 points from 7 games that are played in India. The IPL will be resuming in UAE on September 19. Defending champions Mumbai Indians will be taking on Chennai Super Kings in Dubai on September 19th.
