India Vs England Day 2 Updates: India finished Day 1 of the first test high with some disciplined bowling attack from the visitors led to a collapse for England from 138/3 to 183 all-out and resumed Day 2 with 21 for 0 on the scoreboard with both Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul batting on 9.
Both the batsmen started the day with good control and played some cautious sensible strokes to keep the scoreboard ticking with singles and boundaries when offered some loose deliveries. They both played some brilliant cricket and continued from the form where they left off in the 2019 ODI Worldcup.
When things were going well and India was looking strong to post a most important (What looked like) century partnership for the opening partnership after ages in England conditions, Rohit Sharma got out to his favorite hook shot which he used to score most of his runs. He was dismissed by Robinson caught by Sam Curran in the deep fine leg area. Rohit c S Curran b Robinson 36(107) (4s-6) India 97-1
Pujara was India’s number three batsman and he had a shocking welcome on the 9th delivery he faced when was given out LBW by the Umpire. Though Pujara survived the LBW with the DRS review, but that review scare might have given him some break in concentration. He fell on the 16th delivery he faced to Anderson a swinging in delivery which swung away late after crossing Pujara’s bat. That was a good delivery to get a wicket like Pujara’s. Pujara c Buttler b Anderson 4(16) India 104-2
In comes Virat Kohli and it’s a shocker for all the Indian fans & Virat fans all over the world. The Run machine has been dismissed by James Anderson for a Golden Duck and Kohli can’t believe it. He is standing in disbelief thinking about his luck. Coming to the delivery, that was a probing length even for a player of King Kohli’s caliber. This is a line that was bowled to Kohli during the 2014 England tour and he’s fallen to that delivery yet again. Kohli c Buttler b Anderson 0(1)104-3
Wickets continued to fell on one end but KL Rahul scored an excellent half-century standing tall on the other end. Ajinkya Rahane was gone quickly after Rahul’s half-century for a suicidal runout and continued his poor run of form. Then comes Rishabh Pant and in his brief stay, he remained calm and composed with the company of KL Rahul.
Day 2 abandoned
Then the play was stopped for some time due to bad light and after that rain played spoilsport and abandoned the day. India was 125 for 4 at Stumps on Day 2. Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul were batting on 7 and 57. Weather reports already stated that Day 2 to Day 5 will face multiple weather interruptions due to bad weather and rain.
