India vs England 2021 :
The much-awaited and anticipated test series has started with a long buildup created by the Fans, Broadcasters, their respective Cricket Boards, and none other than the fans of both sides on August 4th, 2021. Both the teams will be playing 5 Tests which marks the beginning of the Second Season of the World Test Championship.
Toss won by England and the England Captain Root decided to bat first
Jasprit Bumrah struck in the 5th ball of the first over of the match to send Rory Burns for a duck. Bumrah set him up with the three away swingers and then nipped one back into the batsmen. That hits the pad and the Umpire raised his finger to send Burns back on his way to the dressing room.
Indian bowlers bowled a brilliant spell of Test bowling with excellent discipline in their line and length. Especially, Mohammed Shami bowled his heart out without much luck in the initial overs. Mohammed Siraj dismissed Crawley for 27 runs. Sibley paced his innings like how Pujara does for India along with another set-batsmen Crawley until Siraj’s sharp inswinger took Crawley’s inside edge and was caught by Rishabh Pant.
Soon after Crawley perished, Sibley was dismissed by Shami. All the credits go to the bowler and the captain for sticking to a negative leg side fielding setup and field placement, assisted well by the safe fielding of KL Rahul.
Then comes the England Skipper Joe Root and joined hands with Bairstow. Both of them used their experience and skills to counter-attack the disciplined Indian bowling attack. Root and Bairstow stitched together a partnership of 72 runs for the 4th wicket.
Bairstow was removed by an excellent delivery from the workhorse Shami who bowled well in the same probing lengths. As the old saying says, One brings two, For India, another breakthrough had happened in the same over of Mohammed Shami. He gets all the rewards for his disciplined bowling, England was 138-5 at that time.
England middle order fell cheaply
England’s middle-order had been exposed by the Indian bowlers by that time and England was praying to not to lose one more wicket at this stage. But what happened next was a shocker to the ENG fans as Butler was dismissed for a duck by Bumrah. Butler’s short stay in the crease was awful and he needs to look after his techniques and get things right in the second innings. England 145-6
In the meantime, Joe Root scored the first half-century of this series. There was no help from the end for Sam Curran, as Root was dismissed by Shardu Thakur and he picks another wicket in the same over within a span of three deliveries. This time, Robinson was dismissed by Thakur for 0 runs. At this stage, England was struggling at 155-8
Bumrah pinned Broad in front and took the 9th wicket LBW for the team and the 3rd wicket for himself. Finally, Bumrah cleared the stumps of James Anderson to bundle out England for 183 all out.
India – 21/0 at the end of Day 1
India batted for 13 overs and scored 21 without any loss of wickets which means India is trailing England by 162 runs after the first day of the India vs England 2021 Test series.
