Bangladesh finally broke their record in the ninth attempt to win the bilateral series by beating the Srilankan team by 103 runs in the second ODI in Dhaka. Bangladesh is now on the top of the World Cup Super League table by edging over the World champions, England.

Earlier, Bangladesh won the toss and opted to bat first on the two paced pitch. Bangladesh was in trouble after they got slipped for 74 for four in the 16th over. Mushfiqur Rahim’s timely 125 took them to 246 runs on a two-paced pitch, before the bowlers bundled out the visitors to 141 for 9 in 40-overs to win by 103 runs as per the DLS method.

Mehidy Hasan and Mustafizur scalped three wickets each while Shakib’s two wickets got him level on wickets with Mortaza’s 269, at the list of Bangladesh’s ODI wicket-takers’ chart. His 122 wickets in Mirpur are the joint-most wickets at a single venue, alongside Wasim Akram’s 122 wickets in Sharjah.

But Bangladesh’s win was set up by Mushfiqur Rahim after rescuing the team with a much important 87 runs partnership with Mahmadullah. Srilanka’s inexperience was clearly evident as they were not able to stitch a partnership allowing the Bangladesh tigers to win the series in the second match of the 3 match ODI series. The last ODI will be played on May 28th in the Shere Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka.
