New Zealand won the WTC

New Zealand is the winner of the first-ever World Test Championship (WTC) final. Yes, you read that right. NZ is always that one team that fights against all the odds and being the underdogs who climb up to the top to fight against the top cricketing nations and reach the semi-final/final of every recent ICC tournament. But what they lacked for so long is that breaking that jinx of winning the knockouts and big finals.

The Kiwis are always a hard-working side who are very professional throughout their cricket history but what the Blackcaps were missing in the past was that bit of luck factor that they missed against England in the 2019 ICC World cup Final.

New Zealand won the WTC

No cricketing fan forgets that thriller, that decided the winner in the super over by the number of boundaries scored. That is the luck factor of a team like New Zealand, a team that always works hard, plays good cricket throughout the tournament but they missed to capitalize the crunch situations.

But this time around, that is not the story. They hold onto the key moments and the crunch situations to beat the formidable Indian team who are a good batting unit. They bowled well with discipline to restrict India from 140 odd for 3 wickets to 217 all out before the NZ’s lower order gave the much-needed fight to contribute with the bat as well as in the bowling department.

That’s where the Indian team started losing the grip from being in the top of the WTC final to get bowled out for 170 all-out in the second innings. In the end, NZ got their much-needed win in an important knockout game.

Congratulations to the New Zealand team and Hard luck for the Indian team.
