Shakib and Mustafizur might not get NOC for the remainder of the IPL 2021 as per the reports. The Bangladesh Cricket Board president, Nazmul said that ” It is impossible to provide NOC (for IPL) considering our international commitments. I don’t see any chance of giving NOC to them. We have the T20 World cup coming up and now every match is important, quoted saying by Ekkator TV, to a private news channel in Bangladesh.
Nazmul, on May 31, said that they are not willing to give a No Objection Certificate to their cricketers to participate in the remainder of the IPL 2021, as they are expected to be in a busy schedule preparing with the national team for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup.
Shakib al Hasan and Mustafizur Rahman, who played for KKR and RR respectively in the 14th edition of IPL, left India on May 6 after the tournament was postponed due to a rise in the COVID-19 positive cases inside the IPL bio-bubble.
Akram Khan, BCB Cricket operation chairman, said Cricbuzz that they were not ready to release Shakib for CPL either. BCB seems to have taken a u-turn from their previous stance of giving NOC to cricketers to play franchise T20 cricket. Earlier, the board had stated that they would add a point in their national contract to have a clear knowledge about the availability of their cricketers.
BCB decided to include this point after following Shakib’s decision to miss the Srilanka tour to make himself available for the IPL 2021. Nazmul had mentioned that they will add this point in their next national central contract as they didn’t want to leave the players in panic by forcing them to play for the country. “This is not the first time this is happening, but one thing for sure is that we won’t put pressure on anyone to play for us. We want everyone to play but if there is someone who doesn’t want to play, it is okay with us,” Nazmul had told reporters after Shakib’s decision.
