T20 World Cup might be moved to UAE due to the coronavirus situation in India. Earlier, BCCI had announced that the remainder of IPL 2021 will be hosted in UAE due to the monsoon season in India during September-October.
But BCCI had also asked for more time from ICC before taking a final call on whether India will remain the host country for the T20 World Cup. As of now, the marquee event is to be held in the country in October-November.
Ehsan Mani, PCB Chairman was quoted saying to the thenews.com.pk “The ICC T20 World Cup, which was supposed to be held in India, is now going to the UAE,India is forced to hold the remaining IPL 2021 matches in UAE also.”
IPL and PSL were suspended halfway in the season after coronavirus outbreak in their bio-secure bubbles with several players and match officials started to get positive results for corona. Inspite of that organizers of the leagues found a venue and new window to hold the remaining matches in UAE.
Insider reports said that Oman’s capital Muscat has been added as the fourth venue, along with AbuDhabi, Dubai and Sharjah, for the tournament starting in the last week of October.”Though the BCCI has asked for more time to take a final call on organizing the tournament but, internally they have requested the ICC that they would like to keep the hosting rights irrespective of the tournament being held in UAE and Oman”
