Tokyo Olympics: Indian boxer Lovlina Borgohain has won the bronze medal in the women’s welterweight category at the Tokyo Olympics on Wednesday.Lovlina, the 23-year-old from Assam lost the semifinal to Turkish top seed Busenaz Surmeneli at the Ryogoku Kokugikan Arena.
Boxer Lovlina Borgohain suffers a heavy 5-0 defeat to Busenaz Surmeneli, who is the World No. 1, and the Indian boxer bows out with a bronze medal added to her name.Busenaz Surmeneli proved once again why she is the World No.1 boxer and has shown a true display of dominance, arrogance, and self-belief in her was extraordinary. She remains the favorite to bag a Gold medal but Lovlina Borgohain would be truly pleased with what she achieved in her maiden Olympic Games.
Lovlina kept losing her guard and isn’t mind getting hit by the strong punches from the Turkish opponent, the world champion Busenaz Surmeneli. Lovlina kept losing her guard in search of landing some powerful punches to the Turkish pugilist but the Turkish player was alert enough to avoid the punches from the Indian player. She is experienced enough and makes the experience count when it is much needed in an important game.
Lovlina fought brave and hard enough to try hitting the Turkishpugilist by losing guard and in return got some hard punches from the world champion. But that doesn’t stop the Indian women’s player from losing guard. She is truly a brave fighter and bows out of the Tokyo Olympics 2020 with a bronze medal. She lost the match by 0-5. Though the scoreline doesn’t show the bravery ofLovlina Borgohain the Indian fans will remember her efforts forever.
