Tokyo Olympics: Ravi Dahiya and Deepak Punia qualified for the semifinals of the Tokyo Olympics Men’s freestyle wrestling. In the 57 Kg category, Ravi Dahiya defeated Georgi Valentinov of Bulgaria by 14-4 in the quarterfinals easily which can be considered as a completely one-sided match.
Earlier, in Round 1 Dahiya won against Oscar Eduardo Tigreros Urbano of Colombia by 13-2 to enter the Last 8.
Deepak Punia wins against Ekerekeme Agiomor
Ravi has won the match easily, but Deepak Punia has won his bout only in the last few seconds. Punia was on the verge of getting eliminated but he managed to master a move to outclass the Chinese player Lin Zushen with only 5 seconds to go.
In Round 1, D Punia won through Technical superiority against the Nigerian Ekerekeme Agiomor.
Meanwhile, Anshu Malik lost out to Belarus’ Iryna Kurachkina in the opening round of the 57 kgs category.
Now, Ravi Dahiya will be playing against Narslam Sunayev of Kazakhstan at the Makuhari Messe Hall A Mat B – 4 Aug – 18:15 in the SemiFinals.
Deepak Punia will be playing against TAYLOR III David Morris of USA at the Makuhari Messe Hall A Mat B – 4 Aug – 18:15 in the SemiFinals.
